The New Land 2013 expedition project is rolling down hill big time right now. The team unites in Canada in two weeks. Our minds are overflowing with details and loose ends to tie up.

I’m in Chicago, sorting out the last logistical kinks, packing, and trying to gain some weight. Toby is in Oslo tending to the final details there. Hugh, up in Ottawa, Ontario, is up to his neck in heaps of chocolate expedition fudge bars (calorie bricks). Kyle, our film man, is on a boat headed for Antarctica, where he as worked has a cameraman for the past several years. He’ll be back late next week.

Recently there has been a lot happening in the Chicago media about us.

Tomorrow morning, March 6 at 6:00 a.m, I’ll be appearing live in-studio with Johnny B on WGN AM 720.

Saturday, I appeared on WGN AM 720 on the Bill Moller Show. The show takes place at Woodfield Mall near Macy’s.

Yesterday, there was a nice piece on the expedition for redeyechicago.com.

Friday, I did an interview with WBBM AM 780 for a piece that aired over weekend.

Toby and I spent the last weekend in New York City, where we gave a lecture at the Explorers Club and worked with one of our main sponsors Bergans of Norway. We need to fatten up a little bit before the start of the trip, so the weekend featured plenty high quality calorie consumption…NYC is the place for that! On the ice our diet is going to be pretty boring, so we are all doing our best get in some delicious meals.

The last pieces of gear are arriving and bag packing is in progress. More on that coming soon, stay tuned…
