I’m speaking at the Chicago Voyagers annual fundraiser on Thursday, June 20. The event runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Northside Bar & Grill (1635 N. Damen Ave., Chicago), I’m slated to present around 7:00 p.m. More information at: chicagovoyers.org
Chicago Voyagers is New Land 2013’s official charity partner. Every year Chicago Voyagers takes hundreds of at-risk youth on wilderness excursions and provides them with mentorship and guidance. The organization’s mission is to empower at-risk youth through outdoor experiential adventures that foster healthy relationships and responsible behavior.
The event is open to the public and it will be the first time I present material from this spring’s expedition to Ellesmere Island. I’m very excited about that.
It’s going to be a fun evening that benefits for a great organization. Admission is $25 (which gets you appetizers and 1 drink). There is a raffle and silent auction, which will include some expedition goodies as well as lots of other items.
In Oslo, on Wednesday, June 19, Toby and Kyle speak to hundreds of teenagers who followed the expedition. A movie theater has been rented for the occasion, which will be one of the closing events of the school year.
Early next week Hugh will be right back in the wilderness. He and his family are taking a short canoe trip.
